Project Description
Do You Have a Project We Can Help With?
Aerial Survey: Solar Farm Topographic Survey
Dupplin Estate, Scotland
Potential Solar Farm Site
Flight Goals:
- Carry out a topographic survey of the proposed site
- Create a 3D model using photogrammetry
- Create a 2D orthomosaic of the site
- Prepare topographic data – contour maps, digital surface models, elevations etc.
Key elements of project:
- Topographic aerial survey of a 135 acre area within a tight project timescale
- Use of drone based photogrammetry linked to the RTK network
UAV 365 were presented with a large site to survey with a tight turnaround.
The site was surveyed using three separate flight plans, in order to capture the full area in sufficient detail for the client. Flying at 60 metres altitude, the Phantom Pro 4 RTK drone captured 2114 images.
Using the UAV 365 in-house render farm the visual data captured from the three flights was processes into three separate models, and then combined to provide one set of data for the full area. High speed data processing was key to ensure the information was delivered in time for the partner progress meeting, providing valuable insight into the terrain on site.
Our client can also use this data for project planning and taking remote measurements. A particularly useful asset is the digital surface model, which allows topographic changes to be visualised at accurate scale.
